| While Meandering along US-95 from Reno to Las Vegas we were about a week early for our reservations at the Circus Circus RV park and were searching our Trailer Life Directory for a place to spend a week. After a conversation about what a Pahrump might be we called ?Terribles Casino & RV park in Pahrump, NV about availability and much to our surprise they had a cancellation and could fit us right in. After going down a horrible two lane road for a few miles we came to the RV Park entrance. Surprise, surprise, surprise! It was GREAT! Immaculately landscaped RV sites around beautiful man made ponds/lakes. Loads & Loads of amenities. Free golf cart personal transportation to the casino around the clock. Great facilities throughout. Got all the Vagas RV parks beat hands down. We were so spoiled when we left there we only stayed in Vagas long enough for the wedding we were there to attend. www.tldirectory.com/search/index.cfm?act...00000542&ref=535 www.terribleherbst.com/casinos/pahrump_rv/ www.everest-owners.com/photos/showfull.php?photo=883 FastEagle 2003 Everest 363K 38' 14K 2004 Dodge 3500 STL-DRW-QC-LB-2WD-4.10-AUTO-CTD USN Retired - PDRL DOD Retired - Aircraft Mechanic Part Timers with sticks in SC |

| SO, what kind of prices do these sites charge -- as compared to the in Vegas sites. Sounds like we should stay away from the bustle of downtown and just hop the 'transport' when you want to go into Vegas -- how far is the ride? |

| Pahrump is about an hour drive from the far south end of Vegas. To get to Pahrump you go south on Las Vegas Blvd to Blue Diamond Rd. On Blue Diamond Rd you go west about 60 miles. It is up over a pretty good hill, what is called the 'hump to Pahrump'. The town of Pahrump is not much to look at, just a desert town, but Terrible's Lakeside RV Park is one of the best in the nation. We spent a week there a few years ago and definitely will go back. The on-site casino is small, compared to Vegas casino's, but is okay. Downtown there are some larger ones, including another Terrible's called Terrible's Town Casino. The Terrible in this case is Terrible Herbst, the race car guy. They also have a large casino and hotel in Vegas, about a mile east of the Strip on Flamingo and Paradise Rd. I don't have the current rates since my copy of Trailer Life is in the coach and it is at the dealer's getting some last minute work done before my warranty runs out this week. Another feature in Pahrump, if anyone is up to it, are the legal brothel's. Just down the road from Terrible's Lakeside are the famous Chicken Ranch and another one. Better for my taste are the golf courses in town. We played on one of the most beautiful courses I've ever been on. Terrible Herbst Casino Pahrump Nevada
LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Gaming Commission authorized an ownership modify in the Mountain View Casino Thursday, which returned a member of the Herbst family to the gaming market.
But the discussion was a lot more about health-related marijuana.
A group headed by Timothy Herbst was approved for a 50 percent ownership in the modest house, which will be renamed to carry the Terrible’s moniker. He stated the casino would start out with 180 slot machines and be co-owned with its existing operator, Rochelle McCaw, widow of the founder of Mountain View Casino, John McCaw.
Herbst told the commission his brother, Troy Herbst, who had been an investor in the casino company, would have no involvement with the gaming business due to the fact of his interest in a prospective medical marijuana dispensary in Clark County.
In May, the Gaming Handle Board issued an business notice telling gaming license holders — and even prospective license applicants — to keep far away from medical marijuana. Under federal law, distribution, possession and sale of the drug is a crime.
Troy Herbst owns 10 % of the Clinic Nevada LLC. The Herbst brother are advisers to JETT Gaming, a slot machine route firm owned by their father, Jerry Herbst. The organization manages the slot machines for the family’s Terrible Herbst convenience retailers and gas stations.
Tim Herbst told the commission his brother would divest from the gaming organization if his business earns a dispensary license. If the healthcare marijuana business is not licensed, he mentioned his brother may well want to return to the casino enterprise.
“We’re not going to do something to disappoint this commission,” Tim Herbst said. “We will do everything in our energy to preserve a bright light on this business.”
He said the organizations would be operated separately.
Gaming Commission Chairman Tony Alamo Jr. mentioned the regulators would not adjust their stance on medical marijuana unless the federal government decriminalizes the activity.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board recommended approval of a non-restricted gaming license, slots only, on Sept. 10. Tim Herbst was authorized for licensure as sole manager of Herbst Pahrump Acquisitions LLC.
In the course of the Gaming Handle Board hearing Tim Herbst mentioned they plan to renovate the interior and exterior, bring in new equipment, install player tracking, construct a new restaurant and fix up the bar. He mentioned hopefully a brand new Terrible’s Casino would be open in Pahrump by the finish of the year, he mentioned.
Tim Herbst told the GCB the Mountain View Casino had 36 staff, what he described as the minimum crew of what they want to offer.
“Hopefully we’ll put some men and women in Pahrump back to operate,” he said.
The gaming commission approval was primarily based on 3 situations. The casino is restricted to 500 slot machines, the quantity of slots might not be elevated nor may live games be added without prior administrative approval by the Gaming Handle Board chairman or his designee. A surveillance method must be inspected and approved by the Gaming Handle Board Enforcement Division within 60 days of the issuance of the license. A essential employee application for the position of general manager must be filed within 60 days.
The Herbst family members very first opened Terrible’s Town Casino on Highway 160 and 372 in Pahrump in 1995 and followed with Terrible’s Lakeside Casino in 1999. Herbst Gaming filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 2009 in which lenders took control of 15 casinos in Nevada, Iowa and Missouri. They adopted the name Affinity Gaming LLC in May 2011. Golden Gaming Inc., owner of the Pahrump Nugget Hotel and Casino, ended up acquiring Terrible’s Town and Terrible’s Lakeside Casinos from Affinity Gaming in February 2012. Terrible’s Town was renamed Gold Town Casino soon after a nearby contest, whilst they shortened the other casino name to simply Lakeside Casino.
The Nevada Gaming Commission first approved a non-restricted gaming license for the Mountain View Recreation Center on June 22, 1989, the second license in Pahrump to enable live gaming right after the Saddle West Hotel and Casino, the reported. The late John McCaw and his wife Debbie McCaw bought the Mountain View facility at the start of 1988.

The original 63,000-square-foot, $ 13.5 million Mountain View Casino burned in April 2003 and was rebuilt later with a smaller sized facility, without having the bowling alley and convention center. Original owner John McCaw died in 2006.
